TIFF/ITflow - Calibration File Format

 Calibration File Format

Calibration file is a text file that contains one or more calibration curves represented as tables. Each table is a set of lines, optionally preceded by naming command. Naming command must occupy an individual line.

Calibration file format syntax allows comments ignored by TIFFITflow. Comment begins from the '%' (percent) character and ends at the end of the line. Empty lines are also allowed and ignored.

Every line of a table begins from the source ink density. Following values are the resultant ink densities. Any calibration curve may be used either as a desired curve or as an intrinsic curve. Note that no calibration will be performed if desired and intrinsic curves are same. All calibration curves must be monotonouos.

There are two possible table formats:

Multiple Curve tables

Multiple Curve tables contain more than one calibration curve. If a multiple curve table is set for calibration TIFFITflow assigns an individual curve for each ink. Multiple Curve table must contain at least 4 curves. First four of them are always assigned to cyan, magenta, yellow and black job components respectively. The rest of the curves, if present are assigned to the spot colors in the same order as they are encountered in the source job. If a job contains an incomplete CMYK ink set, those of first 4 curves corresponding the missing inks will be ignored, but must still be present in the table.

Single Curve tables

Single Curve tables are used when the same curve must be assigned to all inks. They must consist of 2 columns. It is not recommended to assign a single curve table as an intrinsic curve and multiple curve table as a desired one, or vice versa. This setting won't be handled properly.
To assign a name to a curve (or to a set of curves of one table), CurveName: command is used. This command must be followed by a character string representing the curve name. When the calibration file is set, the curve names will be collected into the popup menus of the 1 Bit TIFF Options dialog Calibration tab (see above).
See the sample calibration curve file for more information.
