PDFxMakerPro
is installed from the CD to a directory on your Delta Rip Station.
The Delta Rip is then shutdown and the software protection dongle is
attached to the back of the Delta dongle and the system restarted. The application
can be protected with the license file instead of the dongle. Then you should follow
the installer instructions to setup and enable your license.
PDFxMakerPro can now be started from the Start
menu under Programs for the initial setup. At this moment you can change
the default settings.
You can define the rules for the output files naming using the
"Make Output File Name of…"
radio buttons and select unique naming using the
"If the Output File Exists…" radio buttons.
Enable the
"Trapping" checkbox to include the Delta trapping data into the resulting file.
"Pages in One file" option is useful only for multi-page jobs.
The application
PDFxMakerPro can create more than one output files for such jobs and
you can define how many pages of the job every PDF file should have.
Use
"Mirrored output" to mirror the page in your output file.
Use
"Rotated" to rotate the pages in your result file if it's needed.
One of the most useful new features of
PDFxMakerPro is the
"Output Resolution" option.
It provides a flexible instrument that can tune output files resolution for any given
resolution of the source files.
You can set
PDFxMakerPro to produce different output resolutions for different goals,
for instance, for best interface to Ink Jet Printers. Typically Ink Jet Printers use
Resolution values 360, 720, 1440 DPI. If resolution of the output PDF/X1 file exactly
matches the printer's resolution then the fastest interface and optimal production
quality will be reached.
The
"Output Resolution" option allows to integrate
PDFxMakerPro into Remote
Online Proofing process. You can set a small resolution value and output a PDF file that
would load fast to any web browser interface with even a slow internet connection.
After the proofing has been complete you can just change the Output Resolution value
to output the final approved job.
In
DeltaList files the colors are defined by symbolic names.
Special
Ink Tables are used in order to refer them to the CMYK equivalents
for computer presentation. Ink Table is a file where all standard PANTONE inks are listed
with their CMYK equivalent values. Such Ink Table file contains in the installer and
is placed into the application's working directory. You don't have to execute any actions
to set up this default table with the
PDFxMakerPro.
Often the Delta users want to define their own colors and insert them into the
Ink Table used by the Delta RIP. If you want to use your Delta Ink Table with
PDFxMakerPro
you can add it to the list of Ink Tables clicking on the
"Add" button.
After you have configured the software the options would be stored and then used
for all jobs that
PDFxMakerPro processes. But you can change the options for
any selected job. Use the
Job Ticket (JT) for that job to apply individual options.
If you run the application with a JT then the parameters from the
JT take effect.
Currently the job tickets for
PDFxMakerPro are created in XML format. You don't
have to edit the
JT manually.
PDFxMakerPro will save the parameters you define
in a
JT that you can later use with your jobs. Start
PDFxMakerPro, set all necessary
options and press the
"Job Ticket…" button to save your settings.
The "PDF/X Options" button opens the dialog where you can additionally tune your
resulting PDF/X files. You can select a special ICC Output Profile, e.g. to convert
DeltaLists CMYK to the device color space.

Use "OutputConditionIdentifier" and "RegistryName" edit boxes to set
PDF/X specific key values in the output intention dictionary.
Check the "Get Destination Output Profile From" checkbox to optionally
embed a selected profile into the output PDF file. It will then be
reffered as DestOutputProfile key value of the output intention
dictionary.
Examples of the ICC profiles usage in PDFxMakerPro
PDF/X specific features include the values for keywords of the PDF/X output
intent dictionary. See also ISO 15930-3 specification for PDF/X-3 for more
information about PDF/X format.
With PDF/X format you can include the ICC data of a certain output
device into the PDF file.
Thus a desktop application will display the file on the monitor looking exactly the
same as if it has been output to that device. A desktop application can have
limitations working with PDF files that have embedded ICC. For instance, AcroRead 6.0
allows to
test this option of the PDF/X format but you will be able to visualize the difference
of different ICC profiles' usage only if they are profiles of the actual output devices
(have the PRTR signature) and use Working Space CMYK.
The picture shows two PDF/X files opened in AcroRead 6.0 that were generated by
PDFxMakerPro using different ICC profiles.
The GreenPageWithout.pdf was
generated without
using a custom ICC profile,
the GreenPage_ICC.pdf was
generated using the profile
Color LW 12 600 PS Profile.icc.
